I’m delighted to be joining forces with their excellent Activity Team and residents at The Beaumont, Stamford Bridge to provide this year’s Care Home Open Day entertainment on Friday 16th June from 1.30pm. Please come along and support them either in the morning for a cup of tea and a chance to chat to residents, or in the afternoon to join in our musical fun. Everyone is welcome.

The Effect Music Has On The Brain
I was fascinated to watch a video today from Piano Cub which demonstrates the positive effect on your brain when you learn a musical instrument. It makes very interesting listening and once again adds more weight to the many benefits music brings us.
Cowboys & Indians Afternoon
The Indian Chief headdresses are out of moth balls and the cowboy hats all ready to go in the car. I’m really excited at the prospect of sharing my motivational music Cowboys & Indians session this afternoon at The Coach House Nursing Home in Ripon.

Benjamin Till Comments
Today, I was thrilled to discover that Benjamin Till, the composer of “Symphony for Yorkshire”, had watched my recording of “Sing A Song Of Yorkshire” on You Tube and kindly made the following comment
“Top marks there Ruth from the composer. You sing it beautifully. Thank you.”

Sing A Song Of Yorkshire
After singing “A Song Of Yorkshire” from Symphony For Yorkshire in various Yorkshire locations, I’d been asked to make a recording of the song but never got any further with the idea. Then, when I found myself unable to accept an invitation to sing it at a funeral in December 2015, I decided it was time to record my own version of Doreen Brigham and Benjamin Till’s wonderful anthem which I believe expresses the soul and essence of God’s own county.
I hope you enjoy my rendition which I’ve set alongside several beautiful photographs of Yorkshire, many of which capture our great county in its’ wildest and most extreme locations.
Happy New Year Everyone!!
I’m really looking forward to an amazing 2016 and a new CD, recording some songs that are very special to me, as well as encouraging more elderly people to have fun, sing, move and make music.

After the busy singing period before Christmas, it’s been nice to relax over the Christmas holidays and spend some enjoyable time putting together a new programme of songs. I can’t wait to start singing them!
Not long to wait, my first booking is next Wednesday in Pocklington, near York. Happy New Year everyone!!
